Confidential Diaries: A Day in My Life

When I go on tour – especially one as rigorous as this Confidential tour – I get asked a lot, “How do you do it?” It’s such a strange question to me, because I’ve been doing this for so long that it doesn’t seem all that extraordinary. I guess the easy answer is that I just take it an hour at a time.

That said, here’s how a normal day on the road goes:

2:00 am – Our bus leaves the previous night’s venue – we’re usually asleep by then.

7:00 am – We arrive in the next city. This obviously varies from venue to venue, but it’s usually sometime around then.

7:30 am – Shai wakes up and we play or read for a bit. The first night on the road was pretty rough. We have a bunk that we’ve converted to a crib, and I think being in a strange place and being jostled a bit in his sleep from the driving scared him. But, really, every day since then he’s been fine and sleeping through the night.

8:00 am – I feed Shai his bottle.

9:30 am – Shai has breakfast and morning rotations. Right now, it’s Shai, Maks, my mum, our nanny and me on a bus, so it’s pretty tight quarters. So, we all have to shuffle through showering to eating breakfast to playing with Shai. If it’s nice out we go for walks, otherwise he likes to cruise around the venue in his little car. I can’t wait for warmer weather so we can see more of the cities we visit, but for now, we’ve had to settle for a lot of indoor activities.

11:30 am – We put Shai down for a nap and take some time to grab lunch.

1:00 pm – I put myself down for a nap.

2:00 pm – If there’s anything we need to tweak with the show – maybe something didn’t click with the audience or we want to play up a laugh – we have to workshop it. Otherwise, I’m usually doing something work-related. Meanwhile, Shai has his lunch.

3:30 pm – I start getting glammed up for meet-and-greets and our performance.

4:00 pm – I have to say goodbye to Shai for the night and leave him in the care of our amazing nanny, Katie.

5:30 pm – Meet-and-greets start. I really do love this part. My fans are so amazing and I just love that I get the opportunity to meet so many of them in person.

6:30 pm – We run through the show while Shai has his dinner.

7:00 pm – I touch up my hair and makeup and get into costume.

7:30 pm – It’s show time for me (and bath time for Shai)!

8:30 pm – Bed time for Shai (and still show time for me)!

9:00 pm – The show ends; since there’s a bit more space, we de-glam and shower down at the venue.

10:00 pm – We all pile back on the bus to do it all over again.
